Espinosa 601 La Bomba Warhead Re-Up Tin 61-2 x 54:

 Background

  • The 601 La Bomba line was originally introduced to showcase Espinosa’s strongest, fullest-bodied Nicaraguan blends.
  • The Warhead series started in 2013 as a limited-edition offshoot of La Bomba, featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper (instead of the original Habano) to create a darker, richer, but still powerhouse smoke.
  • Each year’s Warhead release has a different box-pressed vitola (Toro, Churchill, etc.), usually with military-inspired packaging (bomb, missile, etc.).

 The Re-Up Tin

  • Instead of a single annual release, Espinosa dropped the Warhead Re-Up Tin as a way to let smokers revisit past Warhead vitolas that had sold out.
  • Each collectible tin holds 10 cigars (the 61-2 x 54 Toro format).
  • It’s basically Espinosa giving fans another chance to enjoy the blend without chasing down secondary market prices.

 Tasting Profile

  • First third: Big blast of black pepper, espresso, and earth right from the start.
  • Second third: Notes of dark cocoa, leather, charred oak, and molasses sweetness emerge, balancing the spice.
  • Final third: Intensifies with smoky earth, bitter chocolate, and red pepper flakes, finishing bold and lingering.
  • Strength: Full-bodied — one of Espinosa’s heaviest hitters, meant for seasoned smokers.

 Aging Potential

  • The Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper mellows slightly with 1–2 years of rest, bringing out more chocolate/earth sweetness while softening the peppery bite.
  • If stored properly, this cigar can age well for 5+ years, developing a more balanced and refined profile.

Collectibility

  • Warhead releases are highly sought after — the tins, in particular, have become collector’s pieces because they were short-run production.
  • Since Espinosa doesn’t mass-produce these, once they’re gone, they’re usually hard to find except through private trades.
