GTO describes the Anesthesia as a bold, full-bodied cigar built around 8-year-aged Dominican Cuban-seed Ligero. The Corojo version is the more spice-forward expression compared with the Maduro.
Flavor Profile
First Third
Right from the start, the Corojo brings sweet hay, cedar, earth and red pepper. There’s a syrupy sweetness underneath the spice, while the retrohale delivers a noticeable pepper kick. The body starts around medium-full and builds quickly.
Second Third
The profile settles into a beautiful combination of cedar, earth, dry bread and lingering pepper. The initial sweetness becomes more restrained, allowing the aged Ligero to take over. This is where the cigar feels more balanced and composed.
Final Third
The pepper and syrupy sweetness return, while the body climbs toward full. Cedar and grassy tobacco remain in the background, creating a surprisingly complex finish. The Corojo doesn’t become harsh despite the strength.
Construction & Burn
The 6 x 54 Toro produces excellent smoke and a satisfying draw. The original review noted some minor burn touch-ups and a somewhat flaky ash, but nothing that seriously detracted from the experience.
Overall Experience
The GTO Anesthesia Corojo is a serious Dominican cigar. The 8-year-aged Ligero gives it plenty of strength, but the Corojo wrapper brings enough sweetness, cedar and spice to keep it from becoming one-dimensional.
Burnt Leaf Rating: 9.0/10
Burnt Leaf Insight
Don’t let the Dominican origin fool you—this is a powerhouse. The Anesthesia Corojo delivers the kind of strength you’d expect from a much heavier Nicaraguan cigar, but it maintains that distinctive Dominican sweetness and smoothness.
Best enjoyed when you have time to let it develop. This is definitely not a morning cigar for the beginner.
