Rich and substantial without being overly aggressive. The extra-aged tobaccos and fermented Mata Fina wrapper give this one plenty of depth while keeping the profile smooth.

Flavor Profile

First Third
Dark chocolate, espresso, toasted nuts and a touch of baking spice. There is a natural sweetness underneath the darker flavors, with a mild pepper presence on the retrohale.

Second Third
The espresso develops into roasted coffee while chocolate, leather and toasted oak become more pronounced. The sweetness remains in the background, keeping the cigar balanced.

Final Third
This is where the cigar gets richer. Dark chocolate, espresso, earth and leather take center stage, with baking spice and pepper building toward the finish.

Construction & Burn

Well-constructed Toro with a solid feel, good smoke production and a generally consistent burn. The long, aged tobaccos and AJ Fernandez construction make for a smooth-smoking experience.

The Heritage takes the original H. Upmann Nicaragua/AJ Fernandez collaboration and gives it a darker, more mature personality. The triple-fermented Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper is the star, bringing chocolate, espresso and sweetness while the Nicaraguan core provides the depth and spice. 

Burnt Leaf Insight

This is the kind of cigar that punches above its name. H. Upmann brings the heritage, but AJ Fernandez brings the attitude. The dark wrapper, aged tobacco and coffee/chocolate profile make this a very easy cigar to recommend to someone looking for a rich, medium-full Nicaraguan smoke without going straight into full-strength territory.
