The Leaf by Oscar Corojo Toro is the more classic, balanced vitola of the line. One note on sizing: sources vary between 6 × 50 and 6 × 52 for the Toro; current listings commonly identify the Corojo Toro as 6 × 52.

Flavor Profile

  • Cedar
  • Earth
  • Cashew/nutty sweetness
  • Roasted coffee
  • Black pepper
  • Light leather
  • Sweet tobacco

The cigar starts with pepper and earthy cedar, then settles into a creamy combination of roasted coffee, nuts and wood. The Corojo brings a noticeable spice without making the cigar overly aggressive.

Construction & Burn

The Toro has an oily, well-constructed Honduran Corojo wrapper underneath the signature outer tobacco leaf. The outer leaf is removed before smoking and serves as a distinctive protective covering rather than the smoking wrapper.

The Toro’s smaller ring gauge compared with the 6 × 60 allows the blend to feel more concentrated and balanced, with a little more emphasis on the wrapper’s Corojo character.

Overall Experience

8.8/10

This is probably the sweet spot of the Corojo line for me. You get plenty of flavor without the cigar becoming heavy. The combination of cedar, roasted coffee, nuts and pepper gives it enough complexity to keep your attention from beginning to end.

Burnt Leaf Insight

Don’t let the ugly outer leaf fool you—there’s a seriously good cigar underneath it. The Corojo Toro is a great example of why Leaf by Oscar isn’t simply a novelty cigar. It’s approachable, flavorful and distinctive enough that you can hand it to someone at Burnt Leaf and immediately have a conversation about it.

Burnt Leaf Rating: 8.8/10
